Structure: Six Underground Steam Vaults, Harrisburg Steamworks 

Problem

The six underground steam vaults which were treated with SURTREAT® in July 1993 had experienced significant deterioration due to cement carbonation and rebar corrosion. These combined effects resulted in major delamination and spalling of concrete from the walls, ceilings, and floors. ALL of the loose and spalled concrete was removed from the vaults prior to application of SURTREAT®, so there was no debris remaining in the vaults.
