SURTREAT Rust Converter – Exposed Steel Surfaces and Rebar
Surtreat Rust Converter is the answer for stopping corrosion of ferrous metals. Surtreat Rust Converter chemically converts rust into a black protective surface on steel. Surtreat Rust Converter is a powerful primer suitable for painting and / or overlay with concrete or any other masonry and cement-based products. Surtreat Rust Converter is designed to provide an additional layer of protection for the embedded metal components during rehab and / or prior to placement.
- Outstanding protection against corrosion 30-year proven site performance
- Withstands weather sun water and salt spray without peeling or cracking
- Simple to use
- Excellent primer for any type of finish coating
- Environmentally friendly
- Requires minimal surface preparation
- Extremely durable

Where To Use
Surtreat Rust Converter is best used on ferrous metals. Our research team designed this solution to add an additional layer of protection to the embedded metal components inside of concrete during rehabilitation of prior to initial placement.
Surface Preparation: It is not necessary to remove all traces of rust before applying this product, however it must be clean and dry. Light to moderate rust that is soundly adhered may be left on the surface. Wire brushing or another appropriate surface preparation procedure such as pressure washing with a detergent is needed to remove loose, flaky rust, unsound or blistered coatings and other dirt, oils, greases, or biological growth that might lead to future bond failure.
Mixing: Stir well before using.
Application And Coverage: Apply a full even application to a dry surface with brushes, rollers or spray. The coating will dry to a smooth and darkened finish in about 10 to 20 minutes depending on temperature and humidity. This product dries very quickly for a waterborne coating to a very water-resistant film. Do not apply heavier than about 200 – 300 square feet per gallon in a single coat to eliminate the possibility of trapping water between layers.
Clean-Up: Clean all equipment immediately after use with soap and water.
- Keep from freezing
- Store safely in an unopened sealed container
- Not recommended for food contact surfaces
