SurCoPrimer FRP Layer II

SURTREAT SurCoPrimer FRP Layer II – Steel Reinforced Concrete/ Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP)
SurCoPrimer–FRP Layer II (SCP II)is a surface applied concrete tensile strength builder. The average pull-off tensile yield strength is increased from 200 up to 400 psi as measured by ASTM C1538 “Standard Method For Tensile Yield Strength of Concrete Surfaces And Bond Strength or Tensile Strength of Concrete Repairs and Overlay Materials By Direct Tension Pull Off Method”
Benefits
Total monolithic load resistance for a concrete member covered with FRP reinforcement can be increase by a factor of 2 when the FRP dynamic pull-off strength is increased from 200 to 400psi.
Specification
ASTM D7522 “Standard Method for Pull-Off Strength for FRP Laminate Systems Bonded to Concrete Substrate” is used to verify that a FRP laminate bonded to concrete surface has a dynamic pull-off strength equal to or greater than 200psi. Application of SCP II to concrete surface prior to placing of FRP will guarantee that the pull-off strength from concrete surface will exceed 200psi.
Packaging
5 gallon pail and 55 gallon drum.
Caution and Safety
Handling: SURTREAT SCP IIis to be applied by professional contractors only. All applicators should wear OSHA and NIOSH recommended protective equipment. Do not use or dilute the product in closed areas without adequate ventilation. Immediately close the container after removal of the solution. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not smoke, eat or drink during application. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep out of reach of children. Do not inhale or ingest or modify the solution. Refer to SDS.
Clean Up: In case of spills or leaks, wear suitable protective equipment. Contain spill and collect with absorbent material or process and transfer to a suitable container, ventilate area. Avoid contact. Dispose of in accordance with current, applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Precautions: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. DO NOT SWALLOW. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid mist and direct contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wear suitable protective goggles, gloves, and clothing. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. If you feel ill, seek medical advice. Wash clothing prior to re-use.

Where To Use
SurCoPrimer – FRP Layer II is designed as part of an underlayment for the installation of outer reinforcement (FRP) to recondition the concrete substrate, increase tensile strength.
Appropriate for use on all reinforced concrete structures where FRP repairs are being conducted. Intended for use in combination with SURTREAT SurCoPrimer – FRP Layer I.
Application Procedure
It is important that all product active ingredients penetrate into the concrete cement. Application rates can vary between 100 to 200ft2/gal depending on concrete cement porosity and strength. High porosity cement can take 100ft2/gallon and will be in the weakest initial condition. Make 2 applications to surface using spray, paint roller or brush depending on structure geometry. Make second application as soon as the first is free of liquid on surface.
As soon as second application is dry apply a light spray of water to drive all ingredient into the cement pore structure. If rapid drying conditions exist due to temperature or wind may maybe necessary to make application of water between applications.
Limitations
-
Minimum ambient temperature and substrate temperature of 35F. Do not apply when temperature is expected to fall below freezing within twelve hours.
-
SCP II will not penetrate sealers, coatings, paints, and membranes.
