SURTREAT TPS III Purge – Concrete, Brick, Stone and Mortar

SURTREAT TPS III Purge is a proprietary blend of chemical materials designed to dissolve and displace concrete contaminants out and away from concrete porosity. SURTREAT TPS III Purge is a chemically reactive material used for cleaning cement based concrete surfaces prior to such repairs as patching, cement overlay, or painting or coating. SURTREAT TPS III Purge is for use in areas of heavy oil or fuel contamination to clean and restore adhesive properties to the cement based substrates.

Benefits

Our TPS II Purge can be used in combination with our other products to accomplish a variety of goals. With proven laboratory and site performance, our product can be applied to a variety of surfaces. The formula is also environmentally friendly, breathable, extremely durable, and penetrates easily. This product works well on surfaces contaminated with fuel oil, hydraulic liquid, etc. Once applied, it can be painted, coated, or overlaid as needed.

Special Features

SURTREAT TPS III Purge works simply by contact with the contaminated area – no special considerations needed. Removes contamination by dissolving and displacing it from within the concrete porosity. SURTREAT TPS III Purge can be used multiple times on the same area depending on the degree of cleanliness required. Surfaces conditioned with SURTREAT TPS III Purge become easier to clean even if left further unprotected.

Packaging

5 gallon pail and 55 gallon drum.

Caution and Safety

Handling: SURTREAT TPS III Purge is to be applied by professional contractors only. All applicators should wear OSHA and NIOSH recommended protective equipment. Do not use or dilute the product in closed areas without adequate ventilation. Immediately close the container after removal of the solution. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not smoke, eat or drink during application. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep out of reach of children. Do not inhale or ingest or modify the solution. Refer to MSDS.

Clean Up: In case of spills or leaks, wear suitable protective equipment. Contain spill and collect with absorbent material or process and transfer to a suitable container, ventilate area. Avoid contact. Dispose of in accordance with current, applicable local, state and federal regulations.

Precautions: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. DO NOT SWALLOW. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid mist and direct contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wear suitable protective goggles, gloves, and clothing. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. If you feel ill, seek medical advice. Wash clothing prior to re-use.

Where To Use

Reinforced, precast, prestressed, or post-tensioned concrete structures. For use on surfaces contaminated with petroleum based oils, fuels and other liquids such as hydraulic, brake or transmission, etc. Typical uses include surface preparation for repair works on fueling pads, industrial manufacturing floors, airplane storage and maintenance areas, machine shops, parking garages, storage pads, chemical manufacturing, mines, etc.

Application Procedure

Surface preparation: Prior to applying SURTREAT TPS III Purge the surface must be washed thoroughly with an industrial degreaser and the residue cleaned by power washing or any other appropriate applicable method. Surface can be dry or slightly damp with no pooling liquid remaining.

Application: SURTREAT TPS III Purge is applied by spraying or pouring onto the concrete surface. When spraying, use a conventional airless spray system or a hand-pressure equipment. Multiple applications can be used depending on the level of contamination and adhesion requirements of subsequent repair materials. Apply liberally until substrate is saturated. Spread with squeegee or brush. Add water to the surface if premature drying occurs. Brush vigorously in the areas of heavy contamination. Once the liquid on the surface darkens with pollutants and becomes less clear remove by washing. Inspect the conditioned areas following each application cycle to determine results. When applying prior to installation of a repair mortar, concrete overlay, coating or membrane, care must be taken to remove any SURTREAT TPS III Purge residue before repairs. This can be achieved by rinsing with water, pressure washing or grit blasting. After application, allow substrate to dry before continuing with repairs.

Limitations

  • Minimum ambient temperature and substrate temperature of 35F.
  • Avoid contact with glass, aluminum and painted surfaces – may cause permanent spotting.
