TPS IV S

SURTREAT TPS IV S – Concrete, Brick, Stone and Mortar
SURTREAT TPS IV S is a lithium silicate containing material for application to hardened concrete. It is designed to protect the concrete, and any embedded reinforcing steel, on multiple fronts by penetrating the concrete surface and reacting with the cement phase. SURTREAT TPS IV S fills the pores and cracks to seal porosity, increase compressive strength, and buffer pH. Additionally it protects the concrete surface from acid, chloride, environmental and alkali attack, thereby extending structures’ service life.
Benefits
Our formula makes for an effective solution for ASR mitigation. With proven laboratory and site performance, our product can be applied to a variety of surfaces. The formula is also environmentally friendly, breathable, extremely durable, and penetrates easily. Once applied, it can not be peeled or scratched off of the original surface and can be painted, coated, or overlaid as needed.
Special Features
SURTREAT TPS IV S is surface applied to existing concrete where ASR is confirmed or suspected in a manner which enables it to penetrate the surface. SURTREAT TPS IV S inhibits further crack formation and concrete growth due to ASR. In addition SURTREAT TPS IV S hardens the surface seals micro cracks prevents water and pollutants from infiltrating through concrete porosity thereby further extending effective ASR protection.
Packaging
5 gallon pail and 55 gallon drum.
Caution and Safety
Handling: SURTREAT TPS IV S is to be applied by professional contractors only. All applicators should wear OSHA and NIOSH recommended protective equipment. Do not use or dilute the product in closed areas without adequate ventilation. Immediately close the container after removal of the solution. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not smoke, eat or drink during application. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep out of reach of children. Do not inhale or ingest or modify the solution. Refer to MSDS.
Clean Up: In case of spills or leaks, wear suitable protective equipment. Contain spill and collect with absorbent material or process and transfer to a suitable container, ventilate area. Avoid contact. Dispose of in accordance with current, applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Precautions: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. DO NOT SWALLOW. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid mist and direct contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wear suitable protective goggles, gloves, and clothing. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. If you feel ill, seek medical advice. Wash clothing prior to re-use.

Where To Use
For use on structures which exhibit symptoms of ASR growth crack formation and aggregate popping.
Applicable to all types of structures composed of Portland cement concrete – bridges, roadways, outdoor storage pads, airport runways and tarmac areas, building components and other PCC structures exposed to the elements.
Application Procedure
Surface preparation: Prior to applying SURTREAT TPS IV S the surface must be clean, sound, and reasonably dry.
Application: SURTREAT TPS IV S is applied by roller, brush or spray onto the concrete surface. When spraying, use conventional airless spray system or hand-pressure equipment. A minimum of two applications is usually required. Apply liberally until substrate is saturated. Spread with squeegee, brush or roller until adsorbed. Waiting time between applications, will vary depending on environmental conditions and absorbency of substrate, is typically one hour. When applying prior to installation of a repair mortar, concrete overlay, coating or membrane, care must be taken to remove any SURTREAT TPS IV S residue before the mortar or concrete is applied. This can be achieved by rinsing with water, pressure washing or grit blasting. After application, allow substrate to dry before applying coating or membrane.
Distribution rates: Ordinarily SURTREAT TPS IV S is applied at a distribution rate of about 100 sf/gal. This can be adjusted depending on project requirements.
Limitations
- Minimum ambient temperature and substrate temperature of 35F. Do not apply when temperature is expected to fall below freezing within twelve hours.
- SURTREAT TPS IV S will not penetrate sealers, coatings, paints, and membranes.
