Seawall Protection & Corrosion Prevention | Concrete & Steel Preservation

The Problem: Corrosion & Water Damage in Concrete & Steel Seawalls
Seawalls face constant exposure to saltwater, waves, and environmental elements, leading to corrosion, cracking, and reduced structural integrity. Without proper protection, water infiltration and chloride penetration weaken both concrete and steel seawalls, increasing the risk of failure and costly repairs.
The Solution: Surtreat’s Comprehensive Seawall Protection System
Surtreat provides a tailored preservation system based on seawall construction material:
Concrete Seawalls:
- SurCoClean: Removes dirt, chlorides, and organic contaminants from the surface.
- TPS XII: Vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor that protects embedded steel from chloride exposure.
- TPS II: Strengthens concrete by reducing porosity and increasing resistance to water infiltration.
- SurCoat: Seals cracks and exposed rebar, providing long-term structural protection.
- Repel WB: Creates a hydrophobic barrier to prevent future water ingress.
Steel Seawalls (VCI System):
- Rust Converter: Chemically transforms rust into a stable, protective layer.
- VCI Primer: Forms a corrosion-resistant film on the steel surface, conforming to MIL-SPEC standards.
- Polyurethane Top Coat: Provides UV, chemical, and environmental resistance for long-term durability.
Application Process: How to Preserve & Protect Seawalls
For Concrete Seawalls:
Step 1: Surface Preparation
- Clean surface using SurCoClean to remove dirt and chlorides.
Step 2: Apply TPS XII
- Spray TPS XII to inhibit corrosion and form a protective barrier around embedded rebar.
Step 3: Apply TPS II
- Apply TPS II to strengthen the concrete matrix and reduce permeability.
Step 4: Repair with SurCoat
- Use SurCoat to seal cracks and restore the structural integrity of the seawall.
Step 5: Apply Repel WB
- Final application of Repel WB creates a moisture-resistant hydrophobic barrier.
For Steel Seawalls:
Step 1: Rust Conversion
- Apply Rust Converter to chemically stabilize existing corrosion.
Step 2: Apply VCI Primer
- Apply VCI Primer to steel surfaces to form a corrosion-resistant protective layer.
Step 3: Apply Polyurethane Top Coat
- Finish with Polyurethane Top Coat for enhanced environmental protection.
Results: Why Surtreat’s Seawall Protection System Works
✅ Extended Seawall Service Life – Stops corrosion and reinforces structural integrity.
✅ Improved Concrete & Steel Durability – Prevents water infiltration and chloride damage.
✅ Long-Term Corrosion Prevention – VCI inhibitors protect embedded rebar and steel surfaces.
✅ Environmental & UV Resistance – Polyurethane Top Coat shields against harsh conditions.
✅ Reduced Maintenance Costs – Minimizes repairs by preventing future deterioration.
